Newtownstewart’s recent good run continued on Sunday when they travelled to Clogher and came away with the points following a 1-18 to 2-8 win. Ryan Mayse top scored for the winners with 1-10 with 1-8 of that coming from play. The teams were level at the break Clogher 1-5, NTS 0-8 with Clogher’s goal coming from Jamie Callaghan. Indeed when Sean Mc Caffrey converted a penalty for the home side on forty minutes and moved them into a 2-8 to 0-10 lead they looked well poised to win. However they failed to score after that as Mayse, Aidan Mc Sorley and Mark Mc Elhatton got the scores to seat the win for Newtownstewart.
Fintona got back to winning ways with a 2-9 to 0-8 win over Killyman. Cathal Moore was the man on form for the Pearses in the scoring stakes with 2-5 to his name while Pauric Kelly (3) and Niall Mellon(1) hit their team’s remaining scores. Niall and Declan Mc Alinden as well as Caolan Morgan were among the scorers for Killyman. Fintona led 2-7 to 0-4 at the break and will be a bit concerned at only adding two points to their tally in the second half.
Drumragh recorded a hard fought but deserved win over Killeeshil at Clanabogan on a score of 1-12 to 2-06. They were forced to come from behind having trailed at half time 1-4 to 0-6. Shane Cleary top scored for the winners with 1-6 while Gavin Rogers (1), Tommy Murphy (2), Martin Taggart (2) and goalkeeper James Colgan were also on target for the Sarsfields. Killeeshil’s goals came from Shane Mallon and Niall Mallon while Paschal Donaghy (2), Conal Monaghan (2) and Aaron Mc Kenna (1) were responsible for the St. Mary’s points.
Rock made the long journey to Drumquin and came away with the points following a 2-18 to 0-13 win. Conor Mc Creesh is coming back to his best and scored 1-8 for Rock while Aidan Mc Garrity (1-2), Ryan Crilly (2) and Thomas Bloomer (2) were also on target for the winners. The Wolfe Tones are not playing with a great deal of confidence at present that was reflected in both the performance and the result. Barry Gormley top scored for Drumquin with 0-6 while Ryan Mc Callion also hit 0-4. Rock led 0-10 to 0-6 at the break and were comfortable and convincing winners in the end.
Glenelly made the most of home advantage to defeat Dregish 2-10 to 0-7 with Seamus Harkin back to his best hitting 1-8. The winners were 0-6 to 0-5 in front at the break but dominated the second half to win comfortably. Seamus Bradley hit his team’s other goal while Ronan O’Kane and Liam Nicholas were both on target with points. Aidan O’Kane, Stevie Breen, and Tony Quinn accounted for the Dregish scores while Stevie Sweeney was their outstanding player on the day.
Brocagh found their shooting boots in Saturday’s game with Errigal Thirds hitting 1-21 while restricting their opponents to 0-4. Mickey Hughes hit eight points for the winners while Donal Robinson (1-3), Eugene Ryan (3), Cathal Donnelly (4), Barry Donnelly (2) and Justin Campbell accounted for the Emmetts scores.
Beragh made the short run across to Tattyreagh on Sunday and emerged one point winners on a final score of 1-12 to 0-14. The Red Knights led 1-6 to 0-7 at the break with their goal coming from Declan Mc Cann. Three minutes into the second half and the sides were level but it was nip and tuck throughout until Beragh emerged winners in a compelling and highly competitive match. Eddie Molloy (2), Martin Rodgers (6), Niall Owens (3) and Johnny Woods (1) were all on target for the winners. James Darcy was Tattyreagh’s main scorer with Eoghan Murray and Sean Gormley also on target for their team.
