Clonoe and Trillick finished level at O’Rahilly Park on a final score of 2-9 apiece. Trillick showed real battling qualities to ensure they went home with something to show for their efforts. The home side started well with points from PJ Lavery, Declan McClure and Ryan T O’Neill followed by a goal from Gary Coney. Gavin McCarron and Daire Gallagher landed points for the visitors before Gallagher found the net just on the half time whistle to leave two between them at the break. A brace of Trillick points tied the game shortly after the restart but almost immediately McClure bagged a second Clonoe goal. The O’Rahillys followed this up with points from Ryan T O’Neill and McClure but Trillick refused to throw in the towel and were rewarded late on for their persistance. Gallagher added another couple of points before Gallagher saved the day when taking his personal haul to 2-5.
Galbally followed up last week’s fine win over Carrickmore with another point thanks to their draw at home to Augher. A converted penalty early on from the foot of Paul Rafferty gave the home side the perfect start. Augher were dealt another blow when former county man Aidan Cassidy was carried off with a suspected broken ankle. However they settled to the task and points from Declan Connolly, Liam Connolly and Francie McElroy saw them lead by the minimum at the break. A fine pair of scores from Rory Cassidy put the visitors three in front but Galbally responded through Liam Rafferty and half time substitute Sean Murphy. Ronan Nugent and Declan Connolly then exchanged points before Liam Rafferty nudged the Pearses ahead again with what appeared to be the match winner. However Augher continued to press and were rewarded for their endeavours when substitute Eoin Keenan notching an equaliser deep in injury time.
Killyclogher left it very, very late when corner forward Simon O’Neill hit a last gasp goal to overturn a one point deficit against Ardboe and snatch victory on a score-line of 1-12 to 0-13. Ardboe had earlier taken the lead for the first time in the game and seemed set to head back to the Lough-shore with the points. the home side led by two at the break 0-8 to 0-6 with Aidy Kelly, Leo Meenan, James Carlin, Ciaran Gervin and Kyle Coney on target for their respective teams. Meenan extended his team’s lead just after the break but shay Mc Guigan landed three monster frees to tie the game. Points from James Carlin and Fergal Meenagh edged the home side ahead but by this stage there was only one team with momentum. The Rossas landed three fine scores in a row including a fine point from substitute Brian Mc Guigan to move ahead before O’Neill broke their hearts and sealed the win for Killyclogher with his late goal.
Despite finishing the game with only fourteen men Omagh proved much too strong for Edendork at Healy Park. The home side started like they meant business and hit 1-8 without reply inside the opening twenty minutes with Conor O’Donnell and Conan Grugan scoring points and Dean O’Neill netting the goal. It took Edendork twenty five minutes to get their first score of the game courtesy of Emmett Hughes while their cause received a boost when Stephen Corr converted a penalty. Harry Og Conlon and Sean Donnelly reduced the arrears inside the opening moments of the second half but then the hosts surged ahead. O’Donnell and Grugan landed points before the Edendork net was breached twice following goals from that man Grugan and Joe Colton. Omagh won comfortably in spite of being reduced to fourteen following a second yellow card for Cormac O’Neill.
Strabane’s recent mini revival continued when they travelled to Eglish on Sunday and came away with a well deserved and fairly convincing 2-7 to 0-8 win over the hosts. First half points from Warner Mullan, John Mc Laughlin, Emmett Mc Kenna and Brendan Donnelly for their respective teams kept the game close. However in games like these with more than just two points at stake goals are huge scores so it proved with Haydn Mc Namee’s first half effort. That score sent the Sigersons in at the break 1-5 to 0-3 ahead. Two Sean McKillion frees reduced the lead before the key score of the second half arrived when on the restart but then Ryan O’Kane nipped in for a crucial second Strabane goal. McLaughlin added a point for the visitors before Eglish came with a late rally that saw scores from McKenna [2] and Sean Muldoon it was a case of too little too late and Strabane returned to North Tyrone with the points.
In spite of some indifferent form of late Carrickmore were much too strong for Kildress in Sunday’s home league fixture. This latest defeat leaves the Wolfe Tones firmly anchored to the foot of the table. Carrickmore looked sharp early on and hit the opening five points of the game courtesy of Conor Gormley, Mickey Donaghy, Mark Donnelly and Ruairi Loughran before Johnny Connolly got the visitors first score of the day. By the short whistle Carrickmore had moved 0-9 to 0-4 ahead but with the elements in their favour Kildress landed the opening score of the second period through Matthew Heagney. However that was as good as it got for the visitors and a Niall Quinn score was all that they had to show for their efforts as Carrickmore hit top form. Martin Penrose, Mark Donnelly and Mickey Donaghy all scored points before a Martin Penrose goal deep in added time put extra gloss on what was a fine home display.
Coalisland entertained Greencastle in the evening throw in and the Fianna emerged 2-13 to 0-13 winners.
