Gerry Moane and his team made the short run to Armagh on Sunday for a high noon showdown with the Orchrd County. While it wasn’t quite a date with destiny it proved something of a reality check as the Red Hand girls suffered a 6-14 to 0-8 reversal.
Armagh were quickly out of the blocks and found the net twice inside the opening ten minutes with Marian Mc Guinness and Fionnuala Mc Kenna on target. The home side were very much on top and bagged another three goals before the break through Kelly Mallon, Aimee Mackin and Lauren Mc Conville to leave the half time score 5-6 to 0-4 in favour of Armagh. Tyrone’s first half points came from Grainne Rafferty, Chloe Mc Caffrey, Gemma Begley and Maria Canavan.
Tyrone began the second half with scores from Maria Canavan and Emma Jane Gervin but they struggled to make any real impact against a very resolute home team. Armagh continued to dominate the game and a second goal from Aimee Mallon sealed the win for Armagh 6-14 to 0-8.
