Coalisland Fianna are through to the quarter finals of the 2017 Donnelly Vauxhall Senior Football Championship after a six point win over Galbally in Edendork on Saturday afternoon. The Coalisland side took an early 0-5 to 0-3 lead over the Pearses with Dermot Thornton, Stephen McNally and Paddy McNeice all landing scores for the winners while Fergal McGarrity and Paul Rafferty were on target for Galbally.

That two point lead soon became five as Plunkett and McNeice hit a brace of points without reply. Fianna led 0-8 to 0-3 by the short whistle. Galbally needed a fast start after the break however Coalisland found the net through McNeice and with only five minutes gone they were hit by a second goal as Stephen McNally drilled home a second Fianna goal.

The Coalisland men were in cruise control for large parts of the second period however Galbally fought back and kept them honest with Sean Murphy scoring a goal and adding a couple of points. McNally responded with his second goal shortly after as Coalisland ran out six point winners. Final Score – Coalisland 3-11 Galbally 1-11.
