Omagh CBS faced an understrength St Colman’s side at Emyvale on Saturday and enjoyed a relatively untroubled win. The victory sealed second place in Section B and ensured Omagh went through to the quarter-finals proper of the MacRory Cup in February.

With St Colman’s already through to the quarterfinals as section winners the Newry college fielded a somewhat experimental side which found itself on the back foot from early on.

Omagh capitalized fully on their good fortune and by half time led 0-8 to 0-1 with Tattyreagh pair John Harkin and James Darcy prominent.

The second half saw little let up in the pace or direction of the game and a Shane Devine goal eight minutes after the restart put the result to bed while Darcy also added a trio of points to take his tally for the day to 0-6.

Seamus McDermott did find the net for Colman’s but it was little more than a consolation score as Omagh finished highly convincing 1-15 to 1-2 winners.

Omagh CBS: Shane Devine 1-1, James Darcy 0-6, (0-2 frees), John Harkin 0-2, Cathal Starrs 0-2, Conor Loughran 0-1, Tiarnan Murray 0-1, Ryan Gray 0-1, Eoghan Keenan 0-1.
