Galbally produced a superb team performance on Friday night to defeat Moortown by five points in their ACL Division Two clash. The Pearses were in fine form throughout with Sean Murphy enjoying a night to remember. Murphy hit 1-8 of his side’s 2-12 total with 1-6 of that coming from play.
The winners began slowly but reached the break five clear on a half time score of 1-6 to 0-4. Moortown had opened up a 0-4 to 0-2 lead midway through the half but failed to build on that as Murphy, Paul Rafferty, Daniel Kerr and Liam Rafferty shone for Galbally.
Galbally maintained their work-rate after the break as the hosts struggled to match the intensity and scoring power of their opponents. Indeed Moortown managed to put something of a gloss on the score line when they added 1-1 deep in injury time at the end of the second half.
Final score: Galbally 2-12, Moortown 1-10.
Galbally Scorers: Sean Murphy 1-8, Daniel Kerr 1-1, Eamon Mc Elroy, Paul Rafferty and Liam Rafferty 0-1 each.
Moortown scorers: Brian McLernon 1-1, Tony Quinn, Conal McVey, Karl Hagan, Shea Kelly, Sean Og Mitchell, Pauric O’Hagan, Daniel Kelly, Conan McLernon (free), Con Heron 0-1 each.
