Cooktown recorded their first win of the season with a two point win over Moortown. The sides were level at 0-9 apiece at the break. Conor Herron opened the first half scoring after only 12 seconds with Peter Devlin, Tony Quinn and Brian McLernon also on the scoresheet for the St Malachy’s men. The Cooktown scorers included Owen Mulligan, Shea McGarrity, Martin Murray and James McGahan who finished the game with 0-6. After the break Cooktown grabbed hold of the game and by the 44th minute they were four points ahead 0-14 to 0-10 thanks to points from Ryan Pickering, Matthew Carberry and James McGahan. Former county man Raymond Mulgrew slammed home a goal with 15 minutes to go but Moortown didn’t lie down. They finished the game strongly and added frees from Conan McLernon before Christopher McGuigan popped up in injury time to get a consolation goal. Final Score Cooktown 1-15 Moortown 1-13
Ronan Mc Hugh(0-9) was in fine scoring form for Aghyaran as they defeated Stewartstown 1-16 to 1-7. Mc Hugh hit four first half points while Aidan Connolly’s ninth minute goal helped the border side reach the break 1-8 to 0-2 in front. Gareth Devlin was the Harps sole first half scorer with two points. Stewartstown improved after the break with two early points from Ryan Devlin and Dan Lowe. However Aghyaran maintained their composure with scores from Mc Namee, Byrne and Mc Hugh and saw the game out in spite of a fiftieth minute goal from Cathal Devlin.
Sean Murphy hit five points, Mickey Murphy and Paul Rafferty got a couple each while Declan Murphy got their goal as Galbally picked up their fourth win of the season at the expense of Gortin. Kevin McCullagh got a third quarter goal for the visitors while Diarmaid McNulty found the net late on but their efforts just came up short.
Niall Gavin led the way in the scoring stakes with a goal as well as a number of points as Derrytresk saw off the challenge of Killeeshil on home soil. Midfielder Packie McMullan top scored for the visitors on the day.
A last gasp Mark McCullagh goal saw Loughmacrory earn a draw at home to Pomeroy. Ronan Ward had scored a few points for the hosts prior to that late leveller with Frank Burns and Hugh McNamee sharing seven points on the day for the Plunketts.
Aidan McGarrity and Diarmuid Carroll were the Rock goal scorers as they gained a fine win at Eskra while a late Frank McGurk major won the day for Kildress at Urney, Eoin Brannigan and Johnny Lafferty having found the net for their respective sides earlier in the contest.
The last unbeaten record in Intermediate football fell when Derrylaughan had the minimum to spare over Edendork at the Loughshore. Darragh Carney top scored for the Kevin Barrys with Ciaran Gervin among their points as well, County duo Niall Morgan and Darren McCurry notched half a dozen between them for the St.Malachys.
