Derrytresk and Tattyreagh served up a real cracker of a game on Thursday evening at Augher before the Hill Men emerged 2-8 to 2-7 winners with a late match winning score from the boot of Caolan Corr.

In a very entertaining opening thirty minutes the sides were level ten minutes in following a Joe Mc Kee brace for Derrytresk and points for the Tatts from James Darcy and Collie Harkin. Kevin Campbell then found the net for Derrytresk and moved four clear when Joe Mc Kee knocked over his third free of the evening midway through the first half.

Surprisingly that was Derrytresk’s final score of the half as Tattyreagh dominated the remainder of the half scoring a goal and three points without reply to reach the break leading 1-6 to 1-4. James Darcy’s fine twenty seventh minute major put his team into a very strong position going into the break.

However Derrytresk began the second half well with Mc Kee, Cathal O’Neill, Conor Gavin and Leon Mc Erlean coming more and more into the game. Just as Tattyreagh had done in the closing fifteen minutes of the first half, Derrytresk hit 1-3 without reply in the opening fifteen minutes of the second period. Niall Gavin who had struggled to get into the game up until then found the net as momentum swung in favour of the East Tyrone team. Almost immediately however Tattyreagh cancelled out that goal following a strong run from captain Collie Harkin before Eoin Mc Ginn finished to the net.

Once again the match was in the melting pot with only a point separating the teams. Collie Harkin levelled the game with three minutes left on the clock and with time running out a draw looked possible. However a late free from the boot of Caolan Corr ensured that the former County and Ulster Club Champions made it through to this year’s Junior Championship quarter final on a final score of 2-8 to 2-7.
