Páirc Mhic Sioghair Strabane was a hive of activity last week as large numbers of boys and girls were in attendance to participate in the annual Tyrone Summer Camp. The event was blessed with fine weather all week so much so that the club provided the children with sun cream and information cards kindly supplied by Cancer Focus NI.
The camp was coordinated by former Tyrone great Conor Gormley with an excellent squad of coaches and club volunteers ensuring that the children in attendance enjoyed an excellent week of coaching, fun and games with many new friendships made along the way. All of the participants also received the new Club Tyrone kit and a backpack.
Apart from the coaches there are many others that need to be thanked for their contribution over the past week. Tom Brown and Martin “L” O’Kane for all their work and effort in having the facilities open and tidy. To Louise, Wendy, Jessica and Michelle who looked after the teas and to all the parents who provided the vast array of refreshments, it was deeply appreciated by everyone. Thanks also to youth coaches Niamh, Aoife, Erin and Stacey for their outstanding contribution as always.
A massive word of thanks is extended to Lisnafin Ardnalee Trust Cross Community Development Association in partnership with Derry City and Strabane District Council for their kind financial contribution towards the event which was warmly welcomed and much appreciated.
Sigersons Club Chairperson Liam Sweeney paid tribute to all of the above named and others who made any contribution at the conclusion of the camp especially the parents, grandparents and guardians.
Comhghairdeas agus maith sibh to all the winners of the various categories and hopefully all of the participants enjoyed the camp and will continue to play Gaelic games with the club in the times ahead.
The winners of the personalities of the camp were Cheyanne Gentles and Crystal McCrossan, Skills Test winners were Riley Neeson and Joe Bishop whilst Rory Doherty and Ria Donaghey were selected to play at half-time in the Tyrone Senior Football Championship final. Several other presentations were made in the various age groups.
Apologies if anyone was omitted from this report as so many assisted in what was a week to be fondly remembered by all.
Go raibh míle maith agaibh go léir.
