It wasn’t to be for St.Ciaran’s Ballygawley in the Danske Bank Irish News Cup Final at Pearse Ogs in Armagh on Thursday afternoon as they were well beaten by a strong St.Paul’s Bessbrook side. Three Ruairi Canavan points coupled with one from James Donnelly saw St.Ciaran’s lead at the end of the opening quarter but three goals in as many minutes at the end of the first half left St.Paul’s in control and they never looked back. While they will obviously be disappointed they can look back with pride on their run to the final as they twice showed great character and guts to win games after extra time and no doubt the experience of getting to an Ulster final will stand to these young players in the years ahead.
