Tyrone Minor Footballers put last weeks loss to Fermanagh firmly behind them when they travelled to Cavan this afternoon and defeated the hosts by four points to book their place in the 2017 Ulster Minor Football League Final.

The Red Hands put down the foundation for the win in the opening 30 minutes racing to a 1-7 to 1-0 lead by the break. Tyrone opened the scoring with points from Cathaoir Gallagher and Matthew McGuigan but were rocked onto their heels when Karl Cosgrove hit the net for Cavan. That score however would prove to be Cavan’s last score of the half as Tyrone assumed control of the game hitting 1-5 without reply. The points came from Matthew McGuigan, Peter Og Mccartan, Daniel Millar while Eglish man Ethan Jordan found the net for the Red Hands.

Cavan outscored their opponents 1-5 to 0-5 in the second half thanks to a goal from the dangerous Rory Curran and points from Oisin Pearson. Tyrone did just enough in the end with McGuigan and Gallagher hitting the scores that ensured a final spot against Derry next weekend. Final Score – Cavan 2-5 Tyrone 1-12
