Tyrone minors remain unbeaten and on course for a place in the Ulster League semi finals after a seven point success over Donegal in glorious sunshine at Killyclogher on Saturday afternoon.
The home side made all the early running and by the end of the opening quarter they had established a 0-5 to 0-1 lead thanks to points from PT Cunningham, Mattie McGuigan, James Morgan and Peter Og McCartan before a 23rd minute goal from Conor O’Donnell brought the visitors back into contention. Tyrone though took a grip on proceedings in the final moments of the first half when Cunningham found the net twice in the space of thirty seconds for a 2-6 to 1-2 interval advantage.
Donegal closed the gap slightly in the third quarter with the help of scores from Lanty Molloy, Peadar Mogan and Oisin Gallen although points from Cathair Gallagher and Morgan saw Tyrone keep their opponents at arms length.
Gallagher made a telling contribution when coming on as a second half substitute as he weighed in with a further three points with midfielder Oran Mallon also on target. Gallen and Molloy had points for a Donegal side who ended the game with fourteen men as it finished 2-12 to 1-8.
