Clonoe and Coalisland will have to do it all over again after they couldn’t be separated in a riveting semi final at Edendork on Sunday afternoon. A free from beyond the 45m line from Danny McNulty two minutes into injury time put the O’Rahillys in front but the Fianna came straight down the field for Stephen McNally to fist the equaliser as it finished 0-10 each.
Coalisland had the wind at their backs in the first half and they were out of the traps quickly with Brian Toner and Cathaoir Quinn [2] before McNulty opened Clonoe’s account. Dermot Thornton then knocked over a “45” but moments later Coalisland were dealt a blow when Peter Donnelly was straight red carded.
Thornton then knocked over an outstanding “45” from out near the right touchline but Clonoe hit back through Daryl Magee, Aaron Elliot and McNulty [2] to level matters. It was Coalisland though who closed out the half on top with efforts from Quinn and Thornton to leave it 0-7 to 0-5 at the break, all but one of the dozen scores coming from placed balls.
Toner increased Coalisland’s advantage to three on the restart but McNulty converted another free before midfielder Declan McClure weighed in with a superb effort from play from distance. Quinn knocked over another free before Clonoe substitute Shane O’Hagan’s goal chance came back off the post, McNulty pointed from the rebound. With five minutes to go Connor McAliskey hit a brilliant equaliser and it was fitting that both sides lived to fight another day after those injury time points.
