Division one league leaders Dromore are through to the semi finals of the Donnelly Vauxhall senior championship after beating Ardboe 3-9 to 1-8 at Pomeroy on Sunday evening.
The sides shared the opening eight points with Emmet O’Neill, Eoin McCusker, Michael Cassidy and Nishy O’Neill on target for their respective sides. Ruairi Sludden then got in for a well taken 23rd minute goal with Emmett McNabb and Sludden adding points. David Mulgrew had the final say of the first half but it was Dromore who led 1-6 to 0-5.
Sludden opened the second half scoring but a Mulgrew brace left just three between the sides. At the beginning of the final quarter Dromore midfielder Ciaran McCoy scored a goal before both sides were reduced to fourteen men when Eoin McCusker and Martin McKeown were sent off. Kyle Coney and Ronan McNabb exchanged points before Coney converted a 56th minute penalty to leave it 2-8 to 1-8.
Dromore though weren’t to be denied with Niall Sludden charging forward to point before his brother Ruairi made the game safe in injury time when he made no mistake from the penalty spot.
