The Organising Committee of the Annual Greencastle 5 Mile Road Run is once busily looking forward to welcoming another large crowd to the heart of the Sperrins on St. Stephen’s Day.
It is a long time since the first race took place nearly thirty years ago in 1986. Back then approximately eighty entrants participated in that historic first running of what is now one of the most eagerly anticipated road race events in Ireland.
Over the years many GAA players and followers have kick-started their pre-season training programmes with a demanding run around this testing course. This year once again you can be guaranteed to see a host of GAA tops among the starters as they all compete in an attempt to beat a previous personal best or set a baseline for the start of their season.
Online entry is presently open and attracting considerable interest as the date of the race rapidly approaches.
