Moortown are through to the semi finals of the Ulster minor tournament at the St.Paul’s Club in Belfast after beating Monaghan champions Donaghmoyne on Sunday afternoon. The St.Malachys trailed by two points early on before scores from Conan McLernon and Jamie Devlin helped the Loughshore lads turn things around. Donaghmoyne scored a late first half penalty through Cormac O’Connor to level matters but James Devlin had the final say to leave it 0-8 to 1-4 at the break.
Three minutes into the second half Christopher McGuigan got Moortown’s first goal of the contest and when Jamie Devlin and Jack McGuigan tagged on points they had a stranglehold of proceedings. Adam Courtney had a Donaghmoyne goal but Jack McGuigan responded with a major at the other end of the field as it finished 2-13 to 3-8.
