Killeeshil 0-15 Derrylaughan 3-11

Killeeshil completed their Division Two campaign with an impressive and courageous display as they pushed Derrylaughan all the way in this high scoring and entertaining encounter. The visitors hit the net three minutes in courtesy of  Ciaran Gervin and followed that up with points from Ciaran Quinn and Darragh Carney. Killeeshil to their credit dug deep and narrowed the gap to two points at the break thanks to scores from Shane Mallon, Pascal Donaghy and Packie McMullan.

Eoghan Donaghy and Gervin swapped points after the break before Quinn bagged his team’s second goal. Mallon and John McMullan scored further points for the home side but the Kevin Barrys replied through Carney and Paul Donnelly before Gareth Coary sealed the win with Derrylaughan’s third goal.

Pomeroy defeated Derrytresk at Plunkett Park gaining some measure of revenge for their shock defeat in the opening round of the Intermediate championship. The Plunketts dominated the opening half and established a 2-7 to 0-4 lead by the break. Gavin Goodfellow and Aidan Woods found the net for a determined home side while Kieran McGeary, Damian Woods and Brendan Burns all scored points. Niall Gavin and Pat Campbell were on target with points for a disappointing Derrytresk side.

Kildress 0-13 Loughmacrory 1-13

Loughmacrory travelled to Gortacladdy knowing anything less victory would not suffice and they produced probably their best display of the season to earn the win that leaves them in a three way playoff at the bottom of division two.

The home side had already secured their place in the promotion playoffs but they started the game in determined mood and raced into a five point lead (0-8 to 0-3) courtesy of scores from Damian Kelly, Des Treacy and Martin Grimes. However Loughmacrory settled to the task and finished the half strongly to narrow the deficit with Aaron Kelly, Cathal Donaghy and Ciaran Ward all finding the target. A goal early in the second half from Ciaran Ward quickly followed by points from Ronan Ward and Niall Grimes put the visitors in pole position. Four Frank McGurk points closed the gap but a couple of Cathal Donaghy minors sealed the win for the visitors.

Moortown 1-12 Aghyaran 2-11

Aghyaran made the long run to Moortown knowing that a win would give them home advantage in the playoffs and came away with a narrow but deserved victory. With top scorer Ronan McHugh absent through suspension it was Aidan Connolly who carried the majority of the St Davogs scoring threat hitting 1-6 for his team.

Minor stars Jack McGuigan and Conan McLernon hit 1-7 between them for the Loughshore men but their side still came up short. Sean Byrne scored his team’s second goal while Benny Gallen was another man on target for the winners.

Cookstown 2-15 Stewartstown 1-11

Cookstown defeated neighbours and rivals Stewartstown on Saturday evening to keep alive their hopes of featuring in the promotion playoffs. An early goal from Dan Lowe gave Stewartstown the ideal start but a Barry Potter goal for the Fr Rocks was the perfect reply from the home side. Both sides swapped scores with Lowe and Macaulay Quinn hitting points for the visitors while scores from Martin Murray, John Gilmore and Conor O’Hare ensured that the Father Rocks led 1-9 to 1-5 at halftime.

Stewartstown managed to narrow the gap with further points from Lowe and Paul Dillon but Cookstown remained in front and in control thanks to scores from Owen Mulligan, Gilmore and Potter before defender Brian Mulligan fired in their second goal of the game deep into injury time.

Cookstown scorers– Barry Potter 1-2, John Gilmore 0-3, Brian Mulligan 1-0, Owen Mulligan 0-2, Martin Murray 0-2, Conor O’Hare 0-2, Ruairi Mullan 0-1, James McGahan 0-1, Matthew Carberry 0-1, Ronan Donnelly 0-1

Galbally 0-16 Eskra 1-13

Intermediate League winners Galbally completed their campaign with a draw against Eskra. This result ensured Eskra avoided the lottery of the relegation playoffs and can now start planning for the 2016 season in Intermediate football.

Galbally opened strongly with Daniel Kerr and James Lennon on target for the home side but by the break Eskra were 0-9 to 0-7 in front thanks to efforts from Peter Hughes, Joe McCarroll, Aaron Kelly and Paul Turbitt.

The visitors added to their lead early in the second period following a goal from Johnny Hackett but sensing the game was slipping away from them Galbally responded well. Damian McCrory, Ciaran McCrory and Kerr reduced the deficit before substitute Enda McGarrity hit two late points to tie the game.

Galbally scorers – Daniel Kerr 0-5, Damian McCrory 0-3, James Lennon 0-3, Enda McGarrity 0-2, Ciaran McCrory 0-1, Blaine Nugent 0-1, Denis Donaghy 0-1

Edendork 2-12 Urney 4-14

Urney gained a modicum of revenge for their Intermediate Championship Final defeat of a couple of weeks ago when they came out on top against an Edendork side who had nothing to play for. A Johnny Lafferty inspired St.Columbas looked set for victory by halftime having built up a commanding 2-10 to 0-6 lead. Chris Bogle and Aidan Lynch landed a trio of points each with Johnny Lafferty and Sean McDevitt finding the net while Paul Donaghy and Ryan Madden were among the scorers for Edendork.

The champions produced a much better second half with halftime substitute Daire Conway landing seven points after the break and Donaghy and Eoin Manelly bagging a goal apiece. However Urney had much more riding on the game and further goals from Stephen and Johnny Lafferty as well as three points from Fergal McNulty made sure of victory for the visitors.
