Carrickmore are coming into a bit of league form presently judging by their last couple of displays. Eglish were the latest team to face the backlash of a side set on salvaging something from their season.
Gavin Mc Elroy’s Carrickmore team brushed the Eglish challenge aside as they reached the break 4-8 to 0-2 in front. The home side began strongly with points from Martin Penrose, Paul Mc Aleer, Conor Gormley and Colm Mc Gurk before Sean Mc Killion opened the Eglish account with a neat score.
However the game was over as a contest inside the next five minutes when Carrickmore found the net through Paul Mc Aleer and Aidan Fullerton. The hill that Eglish had to climb became a mountain a few minutes later when Mark Donnelly bagged a brace of goals inside the space of a minute to leave Carmen 4-7 to 0-1 in front. Both teams added a point each before the break but by that stage the game was as good as over.
Carrickmore were reduced to fourteen men early in the second half following a red card for former county player Mark Donnelly. Eglish improved following this dismissal adding points through Sean Mc Killion, Ciaran Colton, Paul Mason and Ryan Mc Kenna but the scores were purely academic as Carrickmore coasted to a comprehensive 5-13 to 0-7 win with their fifth goal coming again from the boot of Paul Mc Aleer.
