COUNTY | Brennan and Meyler Join Senior Panel

Two of Tyrone’s all conquering U-21 side have been called into the senior panel ahead of the Red Hands All Ireland qualifier with Limerick on June 27th.

Conor Meyler and Lee Brennan have accepted the invitation from Mickey Harte and were both at training in Garvaghey on Thursday evening. Omagh man Meyler was outstanding throughout the campaign that saw Tyrone lift a fifth All Ireland title.

He may have lined out in the half forward line but he popped up everywhere throughout the field and he carried that form into the Tyrone club championship last weekend when Omagh accounted for Carrickmore in a repeat of last year’s final.

Brennan may still be a pupil at St.Michael’s Enniskillen but his performances over the years have been catching the eye at all levels and he certainly looks an exciting prospect. This year he became only the second player to win three College All-star awards and after coming off the bench to score three points in Tyrone’s opening championship win over Fermanagh he hasn’t looked back.

He went on to hit 1-3 in the semi-final win over Armagh and four points in the Ulster decider against Donegal but it was his performance in the All Ireland semi-final against Roscommon that really stood out when he landed half a dozen points from play. He went on to get a brace in the final win over Tipperary to finish with 1-18 to his name.

Last weekend he produced the performance of the opening round in the Tyrone championship when scoring 1-10, 1-4 from play, as Trillick beat Dungannon. Both players are left footed and there is no doubt they will give Tyrone further options as they attempt to get back on track after losing out to Donegal in the Ulster preliminary round.
