Omagh CBS and Abbey CBS must meet again following a draw at the Dub in Belfast this evening. It was a game that neither side deserved to win never mind lose. With some 23 wides (13 Abbey, 10 Omagh) fired past the posts its not difficult to see where the focus needs to be at training over the next few days. Omagh battled back well after an early setback.
They conceded a very early goal which was well taken by Charlie Magill before fighting back to draw level thanks to frees from James Darcy and John Harkin. Omagh however were dealt a second setback when Darcy was adjudged to have foot blocked the Cathair McKinney. Referee Joe McQuillan pointed to the spot and a short time later Killian McEvoy slotted the ball to the net.
Omagh however added two more points before the break with the best of these coming from the boot ofAndrew McGrath. The second half was a thoroughly forgettable affair with Omagh outscoring Abbey 0-3 to 0-2. Padraig McGirr had a superb chance to win the game in the last minute but his shot at goal fell well short and into the goalkeepers arms.
Final Score – Omagh CBS 0-8 Abbey CBS 2-2
