Tyrone Under 21s set down another very useful marker tonight when they overcome neighbours Monaghan in the Shamrock Cup. The Red Hands had ten points to spare over the Monaghan lads at the end of the game played in Garvaghey. Both sides were tied at 0-5 apiece at the break with Tyrone’s first half scores coming from Kieran McGeary, Lee Brennan and Mark Kavanagh.
Tyrone started much the brighter after the break kicking 1-4 before Monaghan registered their first point of the second half. The goal came from Aghaloo man Ruairi McGlone and the points via Frank Burns, Lee Brennan and Conor Mullen. Monaghan did stage a slight fightback to pull within five points going into the last ten minutes but Tyrone forged towards the full time whistle with points from Peter McKenna, Macauley Quinn, Ruairi McGlone and Mark Kavanagh. Final Score – Tyrone 1-15 Monaghan 0-8
