St Patrick’s Academy are into the last eight of the 2015 MacRory Cup after a huge win over St Mary’s Grammar Magherafelt at a bitterly cold Mid Ulster Sports Arena. The Academy struggled to get away from the Magherafelt men despite playing with the breeze in the first half. Fintan McClure and Niall Kerr were both on target twice for the Dungannon but it was a Liam Rafferty goal that eased the nerves and helped the St Patrick’s side to a 1-5 to 0-0 half time lead.
By the midway point in the second half the Academy extended their lead to 2-7 to 0-2 thanks to a Fintan McClure goal and another major from the excellent Michael McKernan sealed the deal for St Patrick’s as they cruised to a 3-9 to 0-4 victory.
