Rock are set to face Kerry champions Brosna and most likely another long trip south after extra time in Ballinasloe failed to separate the two sides. The contest was a tight tense affair throughout and was littered with mistakes from both sides in the closing stages. The Tyrone champions will feel that they had enough chances to close the game out in normal time and given the fact that they were leading by three with two minutes to go the probably should have.
Despite playing against the breeze in the opening thirty minutes Rock made a fantastic start. Eamon Ward found the net inside the opening five minutes. They failed to capitalise on that however and they found it increasingly difficult to win ball around the middle third. Midfield men Dave Curtain and Shane Curtin started to take control around that sector but Rock still managed to reach the break 1-4 to 0-3 ahead.
Rock would score just three more points in the next 50 minutes. Ryan Crilly and Diarmuid Carroll converted point for Rock in the second half while scores from Tom McGoldrick and Adam Barry dragged the Kerry side level at the end of normal time.
Both sides struggled to find any momentum in extra time with only Aidan McGarrity and Tom McGoldrick on target for their respective sides. Final Score – Rock 1-7 Brosna 0-10
