Tyrone’s dominance of the Bank Of Ireland McKenna Cup continued at the Athletic Grounds in Armagh on Saturday night when they produced a rousing second half display to win a fourth title in a row.

With the wind at their backs in the first half Cavan looked the better side and they were full value for their 0-10 to 0-6 interval lead. Martin Dunne landed four points, Niall McDermott got a brace with Mark McKeever and Niall Murray also on target. Sean Cavanagh converted three first half frees with Kyle Coney and Niall Morgan also on target from placed balls with Plunkett Kane getting the holders only score from play.

The introduction of Mattie Donnelly, Colm Cavanagh and Darren McCurry for the second half helped turn the game on its head. McCurry hit four points with the impressive Niall McKenna bagging the only goal of the game. Padraig McNulty gave an exhibition in the second half hitting two superb points as well as winning crucial frees which were converted with his midfield partner Conal McCann on target as well. Tyrone hit 1-7 without reply as they held Cavan scoreless in the second half to run out 1-13 to 0-10 winners.
