1993 All Ireland winner Enda Gormley has been appointed as manager of Carrickmore for the 2015 season. Gormley helped guide his club Glen Maghera to successive Ulster club minor titles at St.Pauls in Belfast, the Derry club going on to complete a hat trick twelve months ago under Fergal McCusker.
He was at the helm with Galbally last season and now he takes the reins of their neighbours. Carrickmore have won the O’Neill Cup a record fifteen times but have come up just short in each of the last two championship finals against Clonoe and Omagh respectively. His appointment brings to four the number of Derry men who will be managing in the top flight in the O’Neill County next season. Damian Cassidy has won two championships with Clonoe while Ronan McGuckin helped steer Errigal Ciaran all the way in 2012 and McGuckin’s Ballinderry club mate Martin McKinless will be in charge of Ardboe’s fortunes next season.
