Tyrone won the All Ireland Masters Shield on Saturday when they had two points to spare over Ulster rivals Cavan in the decider at Clonbern in County Mayo. Tyrone’s victory was as a result of the dominance of Man of the Match and scorer of five points, Damien Gormley in the middle third ably assisted by the midfield partnership of Conrad Quinn and Stephen Dooher. Up front Conor Daly was the main scorer with Stephen Lawn sharp throughout. Mickey McConomy and Mark Darcy were also very impressive over the hour. In defence Tyrone captain Gavan McElroy recovered from a difficult start on Art McSeain to stamp his authority on the game from full back. His goal denying block in the second half proved to be a turning point in the game as it finished 0-14 to 2-6.
