St.Patricks Dungannon got their Corn na nÓg campaign back on track on Tuesday afternoon at Maghery with a fully merited 7-12 to 4-10 victory over near neighbours St Patricks Armagh.
An opening day win over Downpatrick was followed by a narrow defeat to Omagh so it was imperative to get a win under their belts. Fielding without six regulars due to injury it looked like a tough task and having to play against a gale force wind made it even more difficult. Never the less the Academy had hit four goals inside the opening ten minutes and it was a lead they never looked like surrendering.
Armagh to their credit always fought back but could never close the gap to a manageable level. Dungannon had Clarkes trio of Patrick Keogh, Kevin barker and Conall Devlin to thank for some great defending while upfront the strong running Ryan McCabe and Michael Conroy proved a handful, the duo weighing in with an impressive 4-10 between them. The Academy will head to their final group game against St.Colmans Newry in good spirits
