Dromore recorded a 2-15 to 1-7 win over Errigal Ciaran on Monday evening under lights at Gardrum Park in front of a large crowd to move two points clear at the top of Division One. Niall and Ruairi Sludden bagged seven points between then for the winners who hit the net twice inside the opening quarter courtesy of Fergal O’Neill and Kevin Donnelly.
Errigal struggled to create chances early on with Dromore’s defence very much on top with Conor O’Hara and Fabian O’Neill outstanding. Mark Kavanagh hit three fine first half frees but the Dunmoyle lads were second to too many balls and reached the break 2-7 to 0-3 behind.
Dromore began the second half well hitting five points inside the opening eight minutes as they created a bagful of scoring chances. However Errigal showed a bit of character and Kavanagh (0-2) and Neil Mc Garvey doubled their team’s tally midway through the second half.
However there was little Errigal’s late resurgence could do to affect the result. A last minute Dasher Mc Dermott goal gave the scoreline a more positive look for Errigal but Dromore were not to be denied and the winners returned to the top of the table following their comfortable eleven point win.
