The Hunky Dorys Junior championship final will be an all East affair after Derrytresk and Rock accounted for Castlederg and Owen Roes respectively in the double bill at Killyclogher on Sunday afternoon. In the first game Derrytresk had to withstand a dogged St.Eugenes side to make it through to the decider.
Niall Gavin hit 1-2 for the winners with Joe McKee weighing in with four points and Mickey Rea coming off the bench to get a crucial brace. Mark Corry landed four points for Castlederg with Patrick Lynch and Sean Harper notching a brace each as it finished 1-12 to 0-11.
The second game was all about experience as Rock had too much in their locker for an Owen Roes side who no doubt will learn from this experience. Conor McCreesh bagged the only goal of the game in the third minute and went on to add half a dozen points including some outstanding frees from distance. It wasn’t all about the attack though with the likes of Tommy Bloomer, Ciaran Gourley and Tommy Bloomer helping to restrict their opponents to only two points from play. Cathal McShane converted two frees with Ryan McAleer and defender Sean Dooher their other marksmen as it finished 1-9 to 0-4.
